It has been shown that people support businesses that are owned or employ people they know.  That is why it is important to get involved in Chamber and Community Events.

Durand has many events throughout the year. The Chamber and the DDA, and other not for profits, work together to bring people to Durand. Your involvement, whether wearing logo apparel or providing sponsorship funds, puts your business name in the forefront.

Events you may want to consider working with or sponsoring are:

  1. The Annual Chamber Dinner-Businesses are invited to decorate a table at the dinner to promote their business. The event is held at the VFW in March. Tablecloths are provided by the Chamber, or you may bring your own. We ask you provide small gifts for each of the eight place settings. Decorating is free. There is a dinner charge to cover the cost of the meal.

  1. Edible Landscape Program- The program has been covered worldwide. Volunteer to adopt a plot to water and pull weeds. Donate funds for plants. Purchase hay and black covering. Contact the Chamber for more details

  1. Hometown Party- The Hometown Party Celebration is the town’s biggest indoor Party. It is held in late April. The event has been a Durand fixture for thirty plus years. Each year, raffle tickets are sold for $100.00. The ticket entitles two people to attend the themed event. The $100 includes all the food, drink (adult and soft) and music. PLUS, a chance to win $5000 dollars or one of many other monetary prizes. Your business can sponsor the decorations, the DJ, the early bird raffle and more. Join the committee to help. There are only three hundred tickets available, so buy yours early.

  1.  The Community Photo Contest Calendar:  Every year a photo contest is held by the Chamber. Ads are 50.00 and only twenty-four are sold. The calendars are extremely popular, and it is a great way to advertise.

  1. Railroad Days- The Durand Lions Club and Railroad Days Committee has hosted the festival for over 30 years. Your business can sponsor a host of events or advertising. Contact Kent Edwards for more information.

  1. Wednesday Night Live- The downtown concert series is the most popular evening event around. From the beginning of June to the end of July,  bands, vendors, classic cars, facepainting and more line the first two blocks of North Saginaw Street. You may bring your food and drink onto the street. Your business can sponsor a band for $400.00. Your business name will be featured in all PR and on banners downtown, and in the over two thousand brochures distributed. You may sponsor a host of other items during the event.

  1. Annual Community Chicken Dinner is held on the 4th Tuesday in July. Volunteers are needed for a variety of things. This event is perfect to wear your logo and meet people while you serve.

  1. End of Summer Cruisin’- The classic car is one of the oldest in the area. Every Labor Day weekend around three hundred cars line Saginaw St. from Main St. to Monroe St. Spectators number in the thousands. Sponsorship opportunities are varied.

  1. Harvestfest- This family friendly event is held in early October. Businesses are invited to have a free booth to sponsor a game or craft. The Lions provide free eye check-ups. The City of Durand provides a free pumpkin painting event. The Police and Fire Departments are there with “Touch A Truck and Meet a Cop.” It is wonderful way to promote and meet the community.

  1. Decorate A Depot Tree- The historic Durand Union Station hosts a “Festival of Trees” in the beautifully decorated station. Your company may want to decorate a tree with your business as the theme. Contact the Durand Union Station for more information.

  1. Santa’s Light Parade-held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Floats, walkers, horse, bikes are welcome. It is free to enter and so much fun.

  1. The Annual Chamber Golf Outing- held in early June at Dutch Hollow.  We encourage you to sponsor a hole, form a team or donate a prize.   It is a great networking opportunity.

We encourage your business to be active and visible.
